I have been a little obsessed with mustard lately.
Not the spice, although a good creamy mustard sauce is pretty fantastic.
No, I'm talking about the colour. Not quite yellow. Not quite tan. Somewhere in between.
I have been adding a dash of mustard to lots of other outfits lately, like this op shopped floral frock.
I have also been trying mustard with colours like red, cobalt, green and black. Mustard just gives some colours a zing and some kick.
Whilst I have some spiffy mustard accessories to spruce up an outfit, like this over sized plastic link necklace, pleather belt and little bag, my taste for mustard was not sated and I wanted more. MORE!
So you can imagine how chuffed I was when a pair of adorable mustardy tan heels practically leaped from the shelves on a op shop jaunt last week. And to discover a vintage mustard bag and brooch in the same week was the icing on the cake.
Huzzah for mustardy goodies!
I really love mustard with black!
Of course I had to pop on my marvellous mustard for my lunch out last Sunday. My me-made Nana curtain skirt from this post so long ago, has always been too large around the waist (shoddy workmanship!), but on this occasion it worked perfectly to fit in my big lunch!
This neck lace has really been getting a work out lately!
Isn't the brooch cute? I have no idea what stone that is - any clues?
I have some amazing mustard fabric that is dying to be made into a dress, and I recently found a fab 60's frock with big splatters of mustard and red on a black background, so I am pretty sure my obsession shows no signs of waning.
Do you ever get obsessed with a colour?

Massively!!! And much like yourself, mustard has been one of mine since the fall of 2012 (it was a photo of a famous mainstream fashion blogger whose name escapes me now wearing mustard stockings that did it for me). I love the many ways and colour palettes in which you've styled mustard here. Since falling head-over-heels for it myself, I've added numerous mustard garments and accessories to my closet and look forward to continuing to do so in the months and years to come.

DeleteYou just look amazing in all colours Brooke! the skirt is gorgeous! I have roomier dresses for when the occasion needs it, which is always food based!! all of your accessories are gorgeous too, the stone may be Tigers-eye on the brooch, it's lovely! I'm currently into red, and have made another felt head piece, it may look a little festive but I love it x x x
ReplyDeleteTigers eyes sounds right - thanks for the heads up. Am so glad you made another felt head piece. Hurry up and wear it in a post so I can see it. I imagine the red on you will look absolutely smashing! XXX

ReplyDeleteMustard is the perfect obsession! XXX
DeleteYour outfits are beautifully accessorized. Yellow is a difficult color but when taken as mustard and in splashes looks so lovely. I love how you've done this.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about yellow being a bit difficult, but mustard dashes just seem to zing. Loving mustard!
DeleteOh, I love this mustard montage! The color is fabulous and I'm a fan of it too! I especially love the belt!

Mustard seems to be a winner with everyone! Hurray for mustard! XXX
DeleteUndoubtedly, mustard is a winner, it's a beautiful color ... but you have much merit of wear this color wonderfully! Love this beautiful floral dress, dear Lady.
ReplyDeleteYou always look so beautiful and these two outfits are no exception! I had a big thing about mustard when I first dyed my hair, it was a colour that looked appalling when I was blonde. The me-made skirt is a triumph, always good to have a couple of looser fitting ones in your repertoire for those days when you want to stuff yourself silly! xxx
ReplyDeleteMustard! It IS the most wearable of the yellow spectrum. I love it. That skirt totally rocks!

The stone is definitely a tiger's eye, and I am a mustard fan too! The skirt you made is adorable, and I agree that you can team mustard with pretty much any colour and it look fabulous. Great frock and shoes too - you did well! xxx
